Food Glorious FoOd
Thursday, April 01, 2010Since January was filled with the pantry challenge we decided 2 make our organizing goal 4 January all about our Grocery grab. First Up was the freezer, & I'm pleased to announce our new addition of a deep freeze brought to you by; Shaun's generosity of donating garage space & Craig’s list. I plan to use it to store bulk meats, cheeses, Fruits, veggies, & milk (yep we go through a lot of milk). My goal for my main freezer is to have freezer meals, pizza, and stuff for fast fix dinner’s i.e. chicken nuggets, burritos and such. It’s transitioning over quite well. Next my entire non-food grab found a home in my storage under the stairs. And last but certainly not least was the pantry cleaning it became so dysfunctional that I had piles of food mashed in every direction. (Jenga master that I am HeeHee!) However I had procrastinated most of the month & I think it was from being afraid of what I might find lurking in the far back corner, but all worries aside the worst thing I found was outdated bread crumbs from 2006. Doesn't our pantrylook so much better? If you forgot the before you can see it HERE I thought the Most amusing thing to me was me cleaning the top shelf (Vertically challenged that I am) because I thought I could just stand on a chair. Not likely, so I ended up hauling out the ladder from the garage. I bet your thinking that I found long lost treasures that I forgot existed right? Nope just a big empty Bosch box and a bunch of nic-nacks along with the food Shaun crammed up there. (oh yeah he's a Jenga master too!) I'm so glad that I tackled it though because now that it’s organized I know what & what not to restock. I can almost guarantee I won’t be buying more cereal for a while. I knew I had it, couldn't find it, so I bought more and more...... I think that I’m sitting on the border for becoming an ultimate cereal hoarder. What do you think?
I guess that’s what happens when you find a good deal, and don’t know what you already have. (Don’t laugh it might happen to U too!)
I’m also adding an (freezer/ deep freeze /pantry/non-foods) inventory sheet 2 my system, so when I get down to 1-2 things we use a lot I’ll know when to replace them. Overwhelming as it all was I kicked myself out of my comfort zone and just got it done, and I’m glad to say it it’s the way I imagined it to function 4 now.
we're trying new things because insanity is defined by doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
